Eligibility
This event is open to all plein air artists in the Monterey Bay area, roughly 75 miles radius from Santa Cruz. Up to 30 artists will be selected to participate.

Exhibition Information
It’s time to Pop Up and Paint Out in Santa Cruz!
Paint downtown, along the river, anywhere in the city of Santa Cruz, really. Pick your spot, connect with your fellow artists and paint the town! It’s just a pop-up, so, you’ve only got till 3 pm to create a piece or two. Then show off your work during a summers evening exhibition and sale downtown, during First Friday Santa Cruz.
Awards
People’s Choice and Artists’ Choice prize winners will be selected from works created at the event. Sponsors will award up to $2,000 in purchase prizes, cash, and/or merchandise. Purchase prizes range from $300-$500, and artists are encouraged to create at least one artwork in this price range.
Requirements for Size and Sales (Updated 4/13/17)
Up to three (3) paintings may be hung. All works must be 200 square inches or smaller and be priced at a minimum of $300. The display board for your work is 3′ x 6′. All works displayed must not extend beyond the edges of the display area.
Canvas Stamping (Updated 4/13/17):
On Thursday, June 1st, 5-7 pm, bring your canvases and a dish or beverage to share at the Artists Reception and Potluck at a private residence in Capitola. Sponsors will be invited to attend.
On Friday, June 2nd, canvas stamping is from 8-10 am ONLY, downtown Santa Cruz, location TBD.
Lodging/Transportation
Artists Artists are responsible for all transportation, movement of supplies and artworks, and parking. Lodging is not provided.
Sales
All paintings on display must be available for purchase, and priced between $300-800.00.
All sales, including purchase prizes, are subject to a 40% commission, with 60% of sales going to the artist.
Pop Up & Paint Out will collect all sales and disburse payments within 5 business days of close of exhibition.

June 2:
From sunrise to 3 pm – Paint in the city of Santa Cruz!
8 – 10 am – Canvas stamping downtown Santa Cruz, location TBD
3 – 4 pm – Framed or gallery wrapped paintings due; artists hang own work outdoors at Plaza Lane.
4 pm – Purchase prizes awarded at start of show.
7 pm – Artist Choice and People’s Choice Awards votes tallied and winners announced.
8 pm – Exhibit and event ends; artists remove work.
Fees
Entry is $30 with the submission of 3 images, all plein air paintings. All entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the entry deadline, April 19th, 2017. Acceptance is not guaranteed. Accepted artist will also pay a $30 participation fee. More detailed event information will be provided to accepted artists.
Entering Your Images:
Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.
Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.
